Simon Pranaitis opens with a question worth sitting with: how do we know God will actually keep His promises? Isn't there a limit to His patience? To answer it, he takes listeners back to Genesis and the very first covenant in Scripture, the covenant God made with Noah, his descendants, and all creation.

The covenant unfolds in three stages, and Pranaitis walks through each one in turn. In Genesis 6, God promises to rescue His creation by grace, sparing Noah and his family from a judgment their generation had fully earned. In Genesis 8, after the flood, God promises to sustain His creation by His patience, committing to the steady rhythm of seedtime and harvest, day and night, even though man's heart remains unchanged. In Genesis 9, God promises to protect His creation by His oath, sealing an everlasting covenant with the sign of the rainbow, a covenant made not just with Noah but with every living creature and all of Noah's descendants, which means it reaches all the way to us.

Pranaitis ties each stage back to the same conclusion: this covenant is proof of God's character, a God who keeps every word He has spoken. Listeners will come away with a clearer picture of why they can take God at His word, even when their own circumstances make that hard to believe.
